The Sun Life Rising Star Awards will provide more than a million dollars to help at-risk students continue their education. This money is in the form of grants, scholarships, and resources for nonprofits and individual students across the country.

Does your organization have what it takes to be a Sun Life Rising Star?
To be considered for a Sun Life Rising Star Award, your organization should:
- be designated as not-for-profit and tax-exempt as defined by the Internal Revenue Service code,
- operate in one of the following locations: Detroit, MI; San Diego, CA; New York, NY; Seattle, WA; Boston, MA; Miami/South Florida; or Philadelphia, PA
- directly benefit children and youth under 21 in the area of education engagement,
- have clear and measurable goals and objectives, and
- seek funding for specific program support.
Each organization will also be asked to nominate a student for a Sun Life Rising Star Award. Students may be nominated only through the nonprofit organization.

Local judges. Local winners.
A local judging panel in each city will review all entries and select three winning applications.
Winning nonprofits will receive the following:
- a one-time $50,000 grant.
- a trip to Miami, FL to participate in the Sun Life Rising Star National Summit
- financial education training and curriculum materials.
Organizations that participate in the summit will have the opportunity to be considered for the National Sun Life Rising Star Award, worth an additional $50,000 in grant monies.
Winning students will receive the following:
- a one-time $5,000 scholarship for post-secondary education.
- a trip with a parent or guardian to Miami, FL to participate in the Sun Life Rising Star National Summit.
Students who attend the Summit will have the opportunity to participate in an essay contest. The winners of this contest will be considered for the student National Sun Life Rising Star Award, which will qualify them for a 4-year scholarship worth up to $50,000.
National winners will be selected by the Sun Life Rising Star National Advisory Board.

Sun Life will partner with the Miami Dolphins Foundation to bring the Sun Life Rising Star Awards to the Miami/South Florida region.
The Miami Dolphins will recognize award recipients from Miami/South Florida at a 2010 home game at Sun Life Stadium, and will organize
player interaction experiences for the winners.

The National Endowment for Financial Education® (NEFE®) is the only private, nonprofit, national foundation wholly dedicated to
